Ubisoft enters Web3 gaming with Champions Tactics

Ubisoft’s first Web3 game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, will come out on October 23 and use the Oasys platform. The tactical role-playing game will have unique making systems and items that are owned by the players. It will take place in a dark fantasy world and be very engaging.

The famous French video game company Ubisoft, which made hit series like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, is now making games for Web3. Their first game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, will be out soon. This strategy role-playing game, which is set to come out on October 23, will be hosted on the Oasys blockchain in its layer-2 setting called Home Verse.

In an interview, the game’s chief producer, Sylvain Loe-Mie, talked about how adding Web3 technology makes the experience better for players. He stressed that it gives players a real sense of ownership over in-game items, which makes them feel more connected to their heroes and the game itself.

In the dark fantasy world of the game, players put together teams of heroes to fight other players in competitive player-versus-player (PvP) battles. With 75,000 different digital valuable champions to choose from, players can make their teams look how they want and trade characters to make their plans better. The “Forge” method is an important part of the game because it lets players make new heroes by combining traits from different ones. Loe-Mie agreed that balancing this making method is important to make sure that everyone can play fairly.

During the alpha and beta testing stages, Ubisoft has actively sought feedback from players to make sure that the game features are fair. However, relying on digital items comes with its own risks, as shown by past Web3 projects that had trouble with money because of changes in the market. Loe-Mie stresses longevity to keep the game fun no matter how the market changes.

There are still problems for many people with Web3 games, even though it has a lot of potential. A recent study on the gaming industry showed that over 10% of those polled said they didn’t play blockchain games because cryptocurrency wallets were too hard to understand. Ubisoft hopes to deal with these problems by making Champions Tactics an easy-to-understand and fun game. As people get more excited about its start, Ubisoft is looking forward to changing the future of gaming on the Web3 platform by letting players enjoy exciting gameplay while still owning their in-game assets.
