A major American chain of restaurants McDonald’s and Panera Bread has filed a trademark application that will provide customers with the ability to build virtual restaurants and sell digital assets as part of the metaverse.
One of the trademarks McDonald’s filed is for operating a virtual restaurant featuring actual and virtual products, operating a virtual restaurant online featuring home delivery. The company has filed ten trademark applications.
Within the virtual McCafe it also intends to trademark online live and virtual concerts.
The trademark application submitted by Panera Bread, on the other hand, was slightly different, as it enables the company to use NFTs as digital currency to gain access to virtual foods and beverages. It is contemplated that Panera will develop virtual restaurants and real-life applications for food delivery under the name “Paneraverse.” The trademark application has already been filed.
When a number of large businesses file this many new trademark applications, it clearly shows this is the wave of the future.
