Opera partners with Yat to offer emoji-based web addresses

Emojis are used by 90% of the 4.6 billion internet users on this planet, Opera’s integration with Yats makes it easier for people to express themselves online.

A new feature is being added to Opera’s web browser that enables only emoji-based address methods, the company has announced. Reports indicate the upcoming collaborative venture will bring a new level of creativity to the online world. As part of this new feature, Y.at, a startup that sells URLs that have emojis embedded in them, has partnered with Yat to provide the new feature. When you purchase a Yat through the company, you’ll be given your own Y.at link and the company will provide you with a one-time purchase.

Yat, a Tennessee company that specializes in providing an emoji-based web address, was tapped by Opera to create the feature. Any person can create their own URL through Yat, whereby they can submit a set of emojis as their own custom string of emojis. In order to use Yat emoji web addresses on Opera, the “.y.at” replacement must no longer be used as it was previously needed. Moreover, users can automatically link to a corresponding Yat page via the embedded emojis on web pages.

Opera’s integration of Yats provides people with an easy means to express themselves on the Web. More than 90% of the world’s 4.6 billion internet users express themselves with emojis. As much as expression is important in this integration, function is as important. In contrast to having to type in a long list of alphanumeric characters on the web to get to a website, Opera allows its users to get creative with their own URL.

The partnership marks a major paradigm shift in the way the internet works, It’s been almost 30 years since the world wide web launched to the public, and there hasn’t been much innovation in the weblink space: people still include .com in their URLs. Through the integration with Yat, Opera users are able to ditch .com or even words in their links and use emojis to be directed to websites. It’s new, it’s easier and more fun

Opera’s continuing commitment to being at the forefront of innovation and the acceptance of emojis as a form of communication is another step towards that goal. A set of unique features is included in each of the browsers from the company, including a free built-in no log VPN, ad blocking with tracker blocking, as well as direct access to a set of messengers, including WhatsApp and Telegram. This makes Opera the perfect browser for anyone who wants to stay updated with what’s happening online and on top of the newest trends – now with Yats support. Opera also includes built-in access to the major music streaming services (Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL, YouTube Music, Gaana), Twitter, and Instagram.

Whether you’re an artist, musician, creator, business owner, or just want to increase your following, this integration is invaluable, making it easier for you to connect and share content with your community through your unique string of Yat emojis.

In the wake of Opera’s recent launch of its web3 “Crypto Browser”, which includes features like a built-in cryptocurrency wallet, easy access to cryptocurrency/NFT exchanges, and support for decentralized apps (dApps), today’s announcement is intended to simplify the web3 browsing experience.
