MicroStrategy Increases Bitcoin Holdings to 471,107 BTC with a $1.1 billion purchase

MicroStrategy continues its aggressive Bitcoin acquisitions, purchasing 10,107 BTC for $1.1 billion. The company now owns 471,107 BTC, which it acquired through strategic stock sales and intends to expand further through preferred stock offers.

MicroStrategy has added 10,107 BTC to their Bitcoin portfolio, totaling $1.1 billion in investment. Co-founder Michael Saylor revealed the acquisition, bringing the company’s total holdings to 471,107 BTC and solidifying its status as the largest corporate Bitcoin holder.

The newest acquisition, made between January 21 and 26, represents the firm’s 12th consecutive week of Bitcoin accumulation. MicroStrategy used the proceeds from the sale of 2.76 million shares of its Class A common stock to fund this transaction. The stock sales, carried out under a sales agreement that allows the corporation to raise up to $21 billion, are part of a larger effort to support Bitcoin projects.

In addition to its present holdings, MicroStrategy plans to execute a preferred stock offering to raise additional funding for Bitcoin purchases. The newly proposed Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock (STRK) has an 8% cumulative dividend and a $100 liquidation preference, confirming the company’s commitment to continuing its Bitcoin-focused strategy.

The company’s Bitcoin accumulation journey began in August 2020, with an initial purchase of 21,454 BTC with corporate funds. Since then, MicroStrategy has increased its stakes using a variety of financing strategies, including debt issuance

MicroStrategy’s aggressive approach has prompted other organizations around the world to explore Bitcoin as a strategic asset. Metaplanet, a Japanese corporation, has boosted its holdings to 1,762 BTC, with ambitions to expand further, while Nasdaq-listed Fathom Holdings intends to invest $500,000 in Bitcoin and related projects.

Despite global economic turmoil and ongoing devaluation of fiat currencies, Bitcoin’s attractiveness as a decentralized, fixed-supply asset grows. MicroStrategy’s strategy, along with growing institutional interest, demonstrates cryptocurrency’s ability to transform financial strategies across industries.
