Aimed at enhancing developer experience by providing speedier output and much reduced expenses, Google has formally released two upgraded versions of its Gemini AI models, Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash. Developers will gain from lower API pricing starting October 1, with up to a 64% drop for input tokens, 52% for output tokens, and 64% for cached tokens, for queries involving less than 128,000 tokens. For the Flash model, we have raised the rate restrictions to 2,000 requests per minute (RPM), and for the Pro level, to 1,000 RPM, therefore allowing developers to manage more inquiries at a faster speed.
Meanwhile, Google’s biggest artificial intelligence competitor, OpenAI, has begun rolling out its “Advanced Voice” feature to select ChatGPT users.
Google also revealed an experimental version of the Gemini 1.5 Flash-8B, a smaller device meant for developers searching for reasonably priced solutions with notable performance improvement.
