Giving lawmakers knowledge about blockchain
Polkadot Blockchain Academy (PBA) is starting a new and innovative project to help lawmakers learn more about blockchain technology. In Zug, Switzerland, from April 6 to April 8, 2025, the school will hold its first-ever educational program just for lawmakers. The program is known as Blockchain Basics for Policymakers. This area, which is sometimes called “Crypto Valley,” is known for being blockchain-friendly.
There will be a mix of UK Members of Parliament (MPs) from different political parties at the event. Dr. Lisa Cameron, who used to be an MP and started the UKUS Crypto Alliance, is in charge of the group. She has been a big supporter of blockchain and cryptocurrency projects in the UK.
Dr. Cameron stressed how important it was to teach decision-makers about blockchain by saying:
Because blockchain technology is going to be so important to the UK’s tech industry, lawmakers need to know a lot about it in order to make good rules. There is no better way for MPs to learn about Web3 applications and how they might affect innovation and economic growth than by taking this course.
Polona Dot’s work to support the development of blockchain policies
The study comes at a crucial time for the UK as it changes its mind about how to regulate cryptocurrencies. The UK Treasury recently changed financial laws to make crypto staking rules clearer. This shows a larger commitment to creating a full regulatory system for the industry.
Polkadot’s project aims to give lawmakers a structured way to learn about the technical and legal sides of blockchain. Policymakers will be better able to make rules that encourage new ideas while also protecting financial safety and security if they learn more about the subject.
One of the most important people in the course will be Chrissy Hill, who is Chief Legal Officer and temporary COO at Parity Technologies. She emphasized how important this project was by saying:
“Policymakers significantly influence the future of blockchain technology, yet many have not had the opportunity to comprehensively understand its intricacies.” Polkadot Blockchain Academy wants to close this gap by giving politicians the tools they need to make laws that balance new ideas with safety measures.
Choosing how to regulate blockchain in the future
As the blockchain business changes, more and more people want regulators to make decisions based on good information. Polkadot’s educational program is part of a bigger effort to help policymakers around the world learn more about blockchain. If this first scheme in Switzerland goes well, similar ones could be put in place in other important countries around the world.
Polkadot is actively shaping the future of crypto regulation by encouraging politicians and blockchain experts to talk to each other. This project could be very important for making clear and useful rules that encourage new ideas while also keeping customers and financial markets safe.
