After a security hack involving its domain registrar, Ethena Labs has disabled its website. The firm found on September 18, 2024 that front-end assault on its site resulted from breach of its domain registrar account. Ethena Labs has warned consumers not to contact with any websites or apps claiming to be part of Ethena in order of prudence.
Ethena Labs has reassured consumers that the fundamental protocol is still safe despite the hack; no client money has been compromised. The business is trying to fix the problem and bring regular running order back.
Users linked to the Ethena website during the assault should immediately disconnect their wallets and avoid making any transactions, security company Blockaid said. Likewise, MetaMask has issued a warning on bogus MetaMask websites using the hack to fool consumers, pilfers seed phrases, and compromises passwords.
The episode draws attention to a rising trend in the crypto sector whereby front-end assaults are progressively aiming at websites instead of code flaws. While other impacted cryptocurrencies have also experienced similar security issues, Ethena Labs is working to solve the hack and safeguard its infrastructure.
