Over 200 million people use OpenAI’s ChatGPT every week, which is a huge milestone. That number has more than doubled in the last year. According to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, this amazing rise shows how ChatGPT is becoming more and more a part of everyday life, having an effect on areas like healthcare and education.
The number of people who use ChatGPT every week is impressive, but it can be hard to directly compare it to other platforms. If we extrapolate the weekly numbers, ChatGPT might have more monthly activity than Netflix, which says it has about 278 million monthly users.
If we round up the number of weekly users to a more realistic monthly estimate of up to 800 million, Elon Musk’s X platform, which has about 600 million monthly users, is not as popular as ChatGPT.
But because people interact with things in different ways, it’s hard to compare weekly users to monthly customers or users. The 200 million people who visit ChatGPT every week could have a wide range of visit rates, from once a day to once a week.
Even with all of these problems, the fact that ChatGPT has added 100 million new users in the past year shows how important it is in the tech world and makes it one of the fastest-growing platforms.
