Binance, the leading global cryptocurrency exchange, has achieved a major security milestone by recovering or freezing $73 million in stolen funds so far in 2024. This accomplishment surpasses the $55 million recovered throughout the entire previous year, underscoring the company’s enhanced security measures and commitment to user protection.
As of July 31, Binance’s proactive strategies have resulted in securing significant amounts of funds stolen through external breaches. The recovery efforts reflect the exchange’s robust security framework and its dedication to safeguarding the digital asset community beyond its own platform.
The majority of the reclaimed funds—approximately 80%—were tied to external hacks and thefts, while the remaining 20% were related to scams outside the Binance platform. The company has expanded its collaboration with various industry partners to enhance its ability to track and recover stolen assets.
In a related development, David Plouffe, a former adviser to Binance, has joined Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign. Plouffe, who transitioned into the crypto space after his tenure in the White House, previously served on Binance’s Global Advisory Board.
