Apple Studios and A24 are collaborating on a feature film based on the rise and collapse of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, inspired by Michael Lewis’ book “Going Infinite.”
A feature film is adapting the narrative of Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. In October 2023, Apple Studios and A24 will collaborate to adapt Michael Lewis’ book Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon. The film will look at Bankman-Fried’s stratospheric rise in the cryptocurrency sector and his stunning fall, which has left millions of investors reeling.
Bankman-Fried, who faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted, is one of the most divisive individuals in the bitcoin community. Critics of Lewis’ book claim that it understates the real scope of the damage inflicted by Bankman-Fried’s activities, which resulted in billions of dollars being locked out of consumers’ accounts following FTX’s bankruptcy. The book examines Bankman-Fried’s effective altruism and how it may have influenced his judgments, resulting in the misappropriation of customer monies.
Lena Dunham, best known for developing and starring in Girls, will write the script for the project, which is currently in the early phases of development. The FTX scandal has attracted global interest, resulting in extensive media coverage and court procedures. In addition to this film, there are other films in the works that focus on different elements of the FTX drama, one of which is about Bankman-Fried’s problematic relationship with Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao.
